Camp Waipu Cove is located right beside the beautiful white sands of Waipu Cove – just a few steps over the dune and you are on the beach!

Established in 1928, the Waipu Cove Surf Lifesaving Club is the oldest active club in Northland.

Just 10 minutes’ drive from Waipu Cove, the village of Waipu is a great place to spend a few hours if you feel like a break from the beach.

Around 30 minutes’ drive from the campground, Waipu Caves is one of Northland’s best kept secrets. Impressive limestone formations, an underground lake and a galaxy of glow worms are just a short walk from the parking area.

Turn off SH1 onto Waipu Gorge Road at the bottom of the Northern side of the Brynderwyn Hills, and drive for about 6km until you see the sign for Piroa Falls on your right.

ere are a number of walking trails in the area surrounding Camp Waipu Cove, where you can experience the native bush, birds and other delights of the New Zealand natural environment.

The Waipu river mouth and estuary has international significance as a nesting area for New Zealand Dotterel, Variable Oyster Catcher and New Zealand Fairy Tern.

Whether you prefer the freedom of cantering along one of our beautiful white sand beaches, or a leisurely trek through the lush forested interior of our Northland paradise.

Waipu Golf Club is a short 10 minute drive from Camp Waipu Cove. Rated among the top 50 in New Zealand, this beautiful links-style course is available to all players, year round.
